What do I do if I have forgotten something?

If possible contact home and ask your parent/carer to bring it into Tabor Academy for you. When they enter Tabor Academy, reception will ask them for your name and Tutor group. If you are expecting something to arrive go to student services at break or lunchtime to collect it. If you have not done your homework or have the wrong books with you, for example, apologise to the class teacher at the first opportunity.

What do you need for each lesson?

  • General equipment – planner, reading book, pen, pencil, ruler, rubber and exercise book.
  • Drama – you need trainers.
  • Maths – you need a calculator, protractor, and compass.
  • P.E – P.E kit on days you need it.
  • Technology – A3 technology folder (you will be given this on one of your first lessons).

Where can I do my homework or get help?

You can go to the Library to use the computers or to work quietly. If you are not sure how to do your homework, ask your teacher for help. The Library is opposite the student entrance and is open before registration from 8.10-8.50 am (two sessions), at break and lunchtimes and after the Academy day.

What is the best way to do my homework?

It is always a good idea to do your homework soon after it is set. If you leave it until the day before it is due you may have forgotten what it was about and will find it difficult to get started. Get into a habit of looking at homework at the same time each day.

What will happen if I forget to do my homework?

If your homework is not handed into the subject teacher on time you will be given a homework detention, which will take place either at lunch-time or after school on any day of the week your teacher decides. You will receive a detention slip to take home to your parents/carers 24 hours before it is due to take place. If you persistently fail to hand your work in on time then your parents/carers will be contacted and further action will be taken by Tabor Academy, with support from your parents/carers, to ensure that homework is completed and handed in on time.
