Welcome to Year 9.

Year 9 is an exciting and important year as students begin the transition from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4. It is a year of growth, opportunity and preparation, where the effort students put in now will help shape the choices and successes of the future. My vision for Year 9 is simple: Work Hard, Be Kind.

I want every student to strive to give their very best in every lesson, every subject and every opportunity that comes their way. Year 9 is a crucial year for developing the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to make informed and ambitious choices when selecting GCSE options in the spring term. By embracing every subject and challenge, students will be able to make decisions that are right for them and their future aspirations.

Success is built on strong habits, and we expect all students to Be In The Right Place, At The Right Time, Doing The Right Thing. These simple expectations create a positive environment where everyone can learn, thrive and achieve their best.

Alongside academic success, I want every student to believe in themselves and recognise their potential. Year 9 is a time to step outside your comfort zone, embrace new experiences and develop the resilience needed to overcome challenges. I encourage students to aim high, take pride in their achievements and never underestimate what they are capable of accomplishing.

Being kind is just as important as working hard. We want our Year 9 students to be positive role models who show respect, empathy and compassion towards others. The strongest communities are built on positive relationships, and by supporting one another we can all achieve more.

I also encourage every student to take advantage any extracurricular opportunities available at Tabor. Whether through sport, music, drama, clubs, leadership roles, trips or community projects, these experiences help students develop confidence, discover new interests and make lasting memories beyond the classroom.

Should parents have any questions or concerns, please contact your child's Form Tutor in the first instance, who will be happy to help. I also look forward to meeting many of you throughout the year at our parent drop-in sessions, where we can continue to strengthen the partnership between home and school and work together to ensure every student succeeds. Mr Heath our Year Care Team (YCC) and I are committed to supporting students throughout their Year 9 journey and helping them make the most of every opportunity.
