Year 10

WELCOME TO YEAR 10

‘Do something today that your future self will be proud of’ – Sean Flanery

This is a significant and exciting stage in the journey through secondary school. Year 10 marks the beginning of key stage 4 – a time for students to embark on their own decisions about their futures, explore their interests more deeply and build even stronger foundations for the years ahead. The habits and mindset developed in year 10 will have a lasting impact – both academically and personally.

A key part of success this year is strong attendance. Being at school every day ensures students stay connected to their learning, don’t fall behind, and fully engage in classroom discussions, assessments and support. Quite simply every day counts. Consistent attendance builds confidence, keeps momentum going and lays the groundwork for future achievement.

For students, this year is an opportunity to step up, take more responsibility for your learning and develop good study habits that will serve you well. You’ll be challenged, but supported every step of the way.

For parents and carers, your guidance and encouragement continue to play a crucial role. Working together as a team – school, student and family – will help ensure every student reaches their full potential.

I am excited to continue working with your children again this year as they take on this important next step in their learning. As Achievement Team Leader, I am responsible for the learning and achievement for all students within the year group. I believe it is important that we celebrate our children’s academic success and hope to be regularly awarding each and every one of you with letters, certificates and prizes for outstanding work and for having positive attitudes towards your studies.

With the support of Mrs Burns and your children’s form tutors I am confident that together we can provide the guidance and encouragement needed for them to excel academically, build resilience and grow into well-rounded young adults.

Let’s approach this year with a positive mindset, a commitment to growth, and a shared goal of making year 10 a successful, fulfilling and memorable experience.
